The fifth working meeting of the Democracy Study Centre

The fifth DSC working meeting took place on March 25th-26th, 2017. Since the fellows have only three months to finalise and implement their projects, this session was devoted to project management.

On Saturday the 29 fellows had two lectures and one meeting with various experts in the project management field. The first lecture was presented by a Professor Sergii Potapov who teaches at the Lviv Business School and the Kyiv School of Economics. Sergii who calls himself a “capacity building expert” gave a remarkable lecture on how to manage projects. During this lecture, the fellows learnt about classical project management, agile project management and theory of constraints. Sergii gave valuable tips to the fellows to help them to successfully finish their projects on time.

After such a stimulating start of the day, the fellows had a chance to meet a GoGlobal initiative Director Oksana Nechyporenko who shared her experience in social projects management. The follows then worked inside their groups and analysed strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) of other groups’ projects.

The second lecture was presented by a leading economic journalist and civic activist, former founding editor of Forbes Ukraine, co-founder of Bendukidze Free Market Centre Volodymyr Fedoryn. Volodymyr shared his views on quality media business and successful media content. An active discussion followed the lecture where many questions about media market in Moldova, Russia, and Ukraine were raised.

The first day of the session was concluded by the group work. The fellows proceeded to work on their projects.

The second day started with the inspiring breakfast with Olena Tregub. Olena is a director of International Programs Cooperation at the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and a shaper at the Global Shapers Community. Ms. Tregub delivered an amazing lecture on aid and development.
